Stephen Hohenrieder

Stephen is the founder of Grounded Capital where he serves as the CEO and Chief Investment Officer, working with the team to manage holdings in the portfolio and collaborate with aligned partners to build a more regenerative food system. He has pursued strategies that contemplate diverse stakeholders and operations, striving to achieve outcomes greater than any individual investment through a systems-based approach.

Stephen has spent more than two decades studying our food system and investing private capital in ways that support more regenerative agricultural practices, encourage the production of healthy food at scale, and connect people to the source of their food. His work has included land and conservation, farming, ranching, forestry, processing, consumer products, and retail.

During the first part of his career, Stephen invested across a broad range of assets on behalf of family offices and their related entities. He serves as a director for Traditional Medicinals. Stephen graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Agribusiness. When he isn’t focused on our food system and Grounded Capital, you can find him skiing or hiking in the mountains, playing tennis, or traveling with his family.
