William Culler-Chase
Principal & Co-Founder
Will is the cofounder of Grounded Capital, where he focuses on direct investments across the food and agriculture value chain, with an emphasis on food companies as well as processing and farmland. Over the course of his career investing private capital in food, agriculture and natural resources, Will has come to see food systems as a unique leverage point to re-balance our relationship with the world around us.
Prior to Grounded, Will founded a specialty finance company, working with downstream partners in the organic produce supply chain, that provided low-cost working capital financing to first-generation, immigrant farmers in Central California. Previously, Will worked with PGIM Private Capital where he was responsible for structuring, underwriting, and monitoring private debt and structured equity investments, working with a broad range of food and agriculture-related businesses.
Will began his career in the Real Assets group at Hall Capital Partners in San Francisco. He serves on the boards of Straus Family Creamery and Lotus Foods, and is a board observer at Traditional Medicinals. Will graduated with Honors from Brown University. Outside of the office, Will tries to spend as much time as he can outdoors, preferably on a bike or with Baci and Luca, his Australian Labradoodles.
